Wavy Arm Guy Magic Trick Video

Yesterday I wrote about working on a trick with a wavy arm guy. I don’t have a routine written yet, I’m just seeing if it works.

Here’s a practice video.

One of the things is the explanation with the mic stand. While it shouldn’t be necessary, I’ve been in the audience where similar penetration tricks are performed and they fall flat because not everyone is really spatially aware.

A good example of this is Andrew Mayne’s Razorwire. Here’s the effect:

Andrew Mayne's Razorwire.

Unless you show the audience that you can’t simply walk around the barrier, the trick isn’t going to land. Not everyone will understand that you can’t just by looking.

With my trick, it works, the next step will be writing for it.

Magic Special from 1978!

Growing up in magic in the 1990’s there wasn’t a lot of ways to watch performances of magicians. You either had to go to a show, or catch one on a TV show when it aired. That really limited me to watching modern performers, or older performers who were past their prime at a magic convention.

This is a great video from 1978 of many performers who I had read about while they are still in their prime!

This was a lot of fun to watch and I’m glad I stumbled across it!

Magic TV Appearance

A couple of weeks ago I was on a local TV show to promote National Magic Week. It was a fairly quick appearance and I did one trick which was a card trick, and you can see it below:

The trick uses The Fortune Teller prop for a routine that’s in my 2025 lecture notes. What I like about this prop is that people react positively when it’s introduced, and it’s got a nice three-hit punch at the end of the trick!

When doing TV appearances, I try to do one trick with big impact over multiple tricks. It makes the appearance cleaner. I also did have other stuff in my pockets if I needed to fill time!

Ace, Two, Three, Four to Four Aces Trick

Recently, I posted a trick where four aces turn into an ace, two, three, and four. That trick felt like it needed some sort of kicker ending, like the cards having a different colored back or something. Well, I tried making the cards work backwards, going from an ace, two, three, and four into four aces and that fixed the problem. The trick feels complete at the end.

Here’s a demo of the trick:

There’s only one move in the trick, which is an Ascenio Spread. That move is repeated, so it’s not very hard.

This is the better version of the trick.

Dan Harlan’s The Scoop

Awhile ago I picked up The Scoop by Dan Harlan for a show that I’m going to be doing in the spring/summer of 2026. It’s been sitting in my office and on Halloween I had an idea, here’s what it was:

@louiefoxx Magic trick for the trick or treaters! #magictrick #halloween #icecream @Tillamook @TWIX ♬ original sound – Louie Foxx

I really like the idea as a quick thing to do for trick or treaters, as it’s not really a long trick, it’s more situational magic.

Well, just now when I went to get a link for the trick, I noticed that Dan had the same idea for Halloween!

It’s a great prop, and I’m glad I had it laying around as was able to do this for Halloween!

Aces to Ace, Two, Three and Four

A while ago I described a four ace trick where and Ace, Two, Three and Four turn into four aces. You can read about how it works here:
https://www.magicshow.tips/magic-show-tips/the-1-2-3-4-ace-trick/

I also just made a video demo and tutorial of the trick that you can watch here:

What I like about this is that there’s really nothing to it, just an Ascenio Spread and an open displacement of two cards.

The Fortune Teller on TV (again)

On a TV appearance last week I did The Fortune Teller trick from my 2025 lecture notes. You can watch the appearance here:

What I like about this trick is that the moment you bring out the prop, the audience gets a hit of nostalgia. That makes it a trick that instantly connects with the audience.

Then my card routine with it has a three-reveal punch. The card routine I did in this TV spot is different from my stage routine, which wouldn’t work with this setup, with the host standing next to me.

Vintage Magic Trick: Circulation or Rounding the Squares by Pavel

Here’s a fun little vintage magic trick by Pavel. It’s called Circulation or Rounding the Squares. It’s a novelty packet trick as the cards it uses aren’t p playing cards. Here’s what it looks like, and what I would change about it.

@louiefoxx Vintage Magic Trick by Pavel! #magic #magictrick #cardmagic #pavel #circulation #vintage #vintagemagic #louiefoxx #packettrick ♬ original sound – Louie Foxx

The ending is soo much cleaner if you palm off the gimmick, versus trying to hide it in the packet of cards. When I showed this trick to people, I was amazed at how hard the trick hit! I thought it wasn’t going to have much impact, but sometimes my view of the trick can be affected by a method I don’t like and I need to remember that no one sees the method.

Another TV Spot

Here’s another media spot from the 11 days that I was at the Utah State Fair. This video is a little behind the scenes to getting to the TV station, if you want to just ahead to the media spot, it’s at about the 1 minute mark.

This particular news spot I was supposed to have about 3-5 minutes, however it ended up being less than 3 minutes. My initial interview time was 12:10pm, and when I arrived I learned I wouldn’t be on till about 12:40pm. That told me that I probably would have my time cut short. This particular show was interesting as I really didn’t have any idea how long I was going to do, I really had to read the cues from the host.
